Correcting the misinformation on Covid Vaccines

In march 2020 a disease was discovered. This disease was new and it affected the whole world. This disease was discovered to have come to take over peoples lives and reduce the population of the world.COVID-19 is a very infectious disease and it can be transmitted through having direct or close contact with a person who is infected. You can also become infected with Covid by touching a surface that is contaminated and then touching your nose, eyes or mouth before washing your hands. When an infected person sneezes or coughs bioaerosols(bacteria) spreads around the room and it linger’s in the air and it settles onto any surface so when another person touches that surface they also get infected. After people heard about this virus there were so many questions to this virus, like how did this virus happen, why is it affecting the whole world, when is the virus going to end and how is the virus going to be cured.

This virus caused to the country to be under lockdown the World Health Organisation (WHO) presented ways in which people could prevent the virus from spreading immensely. The World Health Organisation came together with President Cyril Ramaphosa and created vaccines for COVID-19.A vaccine is meant to prevent infections, protect our lives and also reduces the need to be hospitalised if you are infected. The information that is being spread about the vaccines left us wondering and asking ourselves if the vaccines are safe or not.Now this deadly virus has several preventive vaccines. Some people spread the fear they have against these vaccines and tell people lies about them so that people do not take the vaccines. There are myths about the vaccines that people believe to be true and they end up not taking the vaccines.

The first myth that I have heard is that the vaccines have been developed quickly and in a short period of time so they must be unsafe. The truth is that the vaccines are proven safe and effective. The reason why they were created so quick was due to the amount of lives being lost because of Covid.Research laboratories and scientists we are put under pressure to find a cure. The vaccines were ready within a year because scientists and research  Laboratories were under pressure to find a solution and also vaccines that are approved for use have already undergone many clinical trials to evaluate them for safety.

They second myth that I have heard is that if you take a vaccine you will get Covid. The truth is that none of the COVID-19  vaccines can give you Covid because the vaccines are made to prevent you from being infected. None of these vaccines contain the virus.

The third myth that I have heard is that if you take the vaccine you will have stroke on one side of your body. The truth is taking a vaccine does have side-effects and they are fever, headache, fatigue, diarrhoea, chills, muscle pains and pain where you got injected. Therefore stroke is not one of them. I believe that some people spread the myths about stroke being one of the side effects because they do not want people to take the vaccine.

In conclusion I would say that people should stop believing everything they hear. Before you believe something do your research first and find out whether what you heard is true or not. And also people should stop spreading their fear to others.
